It started with a problem, not a plan. A friend of mine made a t-shirt featuring a graphic of a gun. I wanted to support by wearing the shirt out, but couldn't bring myself to wear it given the graphic went against my values. So one night came the idea to glue a single dried flower over the graphic. In that instant, to me, the shirt changed meaning entirely: from a message about conflict to a message about love.
This simple act became the catalyst for our idea of visually expressing love through flower charms. Now what if there was a way to change out the flower itself?
How the Magnetic Flower System Works
I knew the flower wouldn't survive being washed. It needed to come off. Snaps were the obvious answer, until they weren't: snaps punch holes, wear out, and take away the beauty from the design of the graphic. What replaced them was a removable magnetic flower attachment: a small magnet glued into the flower, paired with a metal plate embedded behind the embroidery patch of the shirts. The flower snaps into place with a magnetic pull strong enough to hold through a full day of wear, and pops off just as easily when you want to wash the shirt or switch the expression.
